Renewable energy has grown quickly. As a result, battery storage systems are now widely used. These systems help balance energy use and make the power grid more reliable. However, long storage and quick charge/discharge make batteries hot. The heat now limits battery safety and performance. Temperature is a key factor. If temperature gets too high, batteries can overheat, get damaged, or even catch fire. Therefore, we need real-time monitoring of battery temperature. This avoids risks from temperature issues. It also keeps battery systems running efficiently and safely.
So we must set up real-time checks of battery temperature. This avoids risks from temperature being too high or too low. Additionally, it keeps the battery system working safely and efficiently.
Temperature sensors are used a lot in modern electronics. They are very important in energy storage. This paper talks about using temperature sensors. They can monitor battery storage systems. And they can control the systems too. This improves safety and efficiency.
Check the battery temperature when charging and discharging. Use the temperature data to quickly adjust the charger or inverter current. This avoids overheating. Additionally, it also prevents low efficiency.
For example, a thermistor temperature probe is installed on the positive and negative terminals of an electric vehicle power battery. It is used to measure the temperature rise curve of the battery during rapid charging. Once monitoring the temperature rises too quickly over the preset safety threshold, the vehicle battery management system will immediately issue a command to limit the charger output current. At the same time, a fan is activated to assist in cooling the battery pack to ensure that the battery temperature is stabilised within the normal operating temperature range during the charging process.
Sensors check the temperature across the battery pack. They find hot spots in different areas. The battery manager uses this data. It turns on fans or cooling fast. This keeps the battery temperature in a good range.
Additionally, temperature sensors are placed on the front, sides, and back of a large lithium battery pack used for power generation. These sensors measure real-time temperature changes in each area and send the information back to the system. If any surface temperature rises significantly, the system will quickly activate forced air cooling in the corresponding area. This cools down the temperature promptly, ensuring uniformity throughout the battery pack and preventing safety risks from localized overheating.
We can assess the battery's health and remaining life by directly testing the temperature rise in its core area. This also provides important reference data for the battery management system. For example, in the manufacturing process of some lithium batteries, we implant micro temperature sensor chips, which are only a few microns in size, into the electrode layer. These sensors are then encapsulated into a core group and assembled into a battery pack. By monitoring these sensors in real-time, we can track the temperature changes in the battery's core. This allows us to accurately measure the temperature rise and obtain critical first-hand data for evaluating the battery's health and remaining life.
Additionally, by predicting the battery's state using temperature changes, this important information is instantly sent to the battery management system. It helps diagnose the battery's health and the remaining usable cycles, allowing for targeted care and maintenance.
To sum up, we need good temperature monitoring in battery systems. Use the data for smart temperature control. This really helps safety, stability and efficiency. Temperature sensors give key temperature data. As sensor tech improves, systems get smarter. In the future, we'll see better large battery storage solutions.
