3. When the temperature is below the set value, the spring plate holds the electrical contact in a closed position, maintaining circuit continuity. 

4. As the temperature rises above the set value, the temperature-sensitive material expands and exerts enough force to overcome the spring plate, causing the electrical contact to open and interrupting the circuit. This ensures reliable over-temperature protection.
